Time Flies – A unique charity Gala
Time Flies was a unique Royal Gala created in aid of Royal Air Force Charities. Directed and Choreographed by Andrew Wright and sponsored by the wonderful Mercury Foundation, the incredible West End production was performed in the presence of HRH Prince Michael of Kent.
AWOL Media Productions were tasked with creating original video content for the Gala featuring real footage sourced from the RAF museum archives, poetry, bespoke music composed by our In-house composer- Adam Simpson and various performances from artists and personalities; Pixie Lott, Collabro, Anna Friel, Joanna Lumley, Stefanie Powers, Rupert Everett, The Kingdom Choir, Balletboyz, The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Flawless, the cast of Five Guys Named Moe, The D-Day Darlings and The Band of the RAF Regiment.
Creative Director Greg Goodall (AWOL TV) was responsible for the creative fusion which saw the video footage playing on a screen with live performers on-stage throughout. Director of Photography Steve Hobbs (AWOL TV) over saw the capturing of the original content created by AWOL TV.
During the creation of the Time Flies content, we worked closely with Rupert Everett to film the recital of the poem “Our Wall” written by Battle of Britain Pilot Flt Lt William Walker. The poem was presented with original music composed by Adam Simpson and set to a mixture of dramatic real footage from the Battle of Britain.
Time flies was performed on Sunday 7th October 2018 at The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London and was comprised of some of the West Ends best Singing, Dancing and Acting talents. The Gala was a huge success- seeing a full house in attendance of this incredible event celebrating the service and sacrifice of the serving and veterans of the RAF and their families. The production raised considerable sums of money for Royal Air Force charities.
It was a privilege to be involved in such a brilliant one-off West End theatre production.
